FAQs

How much H2S can I treat with a Heliodor Solutions system?
There is virtually no limit to the concentration of H2S that can be treated.  The vessel system will be custom designed to handle small to extremely large H2S inputs.

Is there a specific flow rate required for efficient operation of the Heliodor Solutions system?
There is no minimum or maximum flow rate requirement.  Each system is individually designed to operate efficiently at the given gas parameters.

How will gas pressure affect the operations of the Heliodor Solutions system?
The Heliodor system can accommodate any gas pressure typically found in a field, refinery, or other vapor production application.

Does temperature affect the Heliodor Solutions system?
Heliodor Solutions systems are designed to operate over a wide temperature range, including temperatures typically found in gas treatment operations.

Does the Heliodor Solutions process cause a loss of natural gas (methane) during operation?
Heliodor Solutions systems are selective for H2S, so there is no loss of any other gas during operation.

Will the Heliodor Solutions system operate in the presence of carbon dioxide and will the CO2 in the gas stream affect run time?
The Heliodor Solutions system successfully removes H2S from gas streams that contain CO2.  HS-1500 is selective for H2S only, so the CO2 will not unnecessarily consume chemical and will not affect run time.

Should I expect outlet H2S levels to rise during operation of the Heliodor Solutions system?
Users should not expect slippage of H2S during startup or during ongoing operation of the Heliodor Solutions system.  However, H2S levels will begin to rise when the solution is spent, indicating that changeout is required.

Is the spent solution hazardous, and how do I dispose of it?
The spent solution is a non-hazardous slurry with elemental sulfur.  It is classified as an exempt E&P waste.  The elemental sulfur can be reclaimed, if desired.  The spent solution can be sent to an on-site injection well or trucked off for disposal (with or without produced water) in accordance with state requirements.

Can the Heliodor Solutions system remove H2S from gas and liquid streams?
The Heliodor Solutions system only removes H2S from gas streams.  If liquid is present in the gas stream, it can be run through a separator before entering the system, allowing efficient treatment of the gas stream.

Do you have systems available for lease?
Heliodor Solutions will provide vessels for short or long term lease, depending on customer needs.

How soon after I submit my gas stream specifications to you can a system be in place at my facility?
Heliodor Solutions has vessels readily available in inventory for shipment to your facility.  Once your system design is specified, documents are sent immediately, so your engineers can prepare the installation site concurrent with the shipment of the vessels and chemical solution.  If timing is critical, this quick turnaround allows for a timely installation.

When I operate your system as a backup unit, how quickly can I switch from my main H2S removal system to the Heliodor Solutions system?
Once the vessels are in place, properly fitted to the process stream and charged with HS-1500, startup is immediate.  No utilities or startup phase is required.

I have experienced foaming problems with other liquid chemical H2S abatement systems.  Will I have a foaming problem with the Heliodor Solutions system?
The Heliodor Solutions chemistry is unique to our company and does not cause foaming problems.  Our H2S removal systems are carefully designed to prevent chemical carryover.
